South Houston Area Radio Control Society, or SHARCS, is a club initially born out of the need for rotary winged flyers, (R/C helicopter pilots), to have a home base in an R/C environment. In 1992; President, James Love Jr., Vice President, Raymond Lopez, Secretary, Marco Rubio, Treasurer, Irene Hatfield and Safety Officer, Mike Crider established SHARCS under AMA charter #3271. Here at SHARCS, we have grown to establish a permanent home for both, ROTARY and FIXED winged flyers. The club rules, layout and accommodations at SHARCS are specifically designed for concurrent rotary and fixed winged flight, thereby enhancing the R/C experience for all who visit SHARCS, the home of the R/C enthusiast. Finally, the purpose of SHARCS AMA charted club # 3271 is to create and maintain for all time, a home field for ALL R/C pilots, to enjoy the sport of R/C flight in harmony.
